I just had an epiphany where I realized that we still have to do these blog posts, and I have a pretty good topic. So, without further ado...

Evolution. I still don't believe it. Even after an entire unit, weeks of my life dedicated to this topic, I still think it's complete and utter garbage. The topic of Creationism, or rather Creation Science, was touched on for maybe twenty minutes. Which is completely understandable, as a whole most Americans know and understand the basics of creationism. I get that. What really bothers me, is this idea that teaching Evolution is separation of church and state, but teaching Creationism isn't. Evolution, regardless of what scientists and teachers try to tell you, does try and disprove that there's a God. So instead of lying, and filling our heads with a mandatory study of this propaganda, give us a choice. We teach ourselves for this unit about either Evolution or Creationism, it's our choice. No one is forcing us to learn about something that contradicts everything we believe. That's true separation of church and state, and that is what I believe to be the intentions of the law.

Personally, after completing this unit I feel disgusting because I was forced to pretend like everything in this unit is fact, and that my beliefs were wrong. No unit in school should ever force any child to think that. Public school shouldn't contradict your home beliefs, but merely give you the knowledge to craft and expand them.
